Bio
David Yurich is the President and managing partner of Sound Financial Strategies Inc. David has an Honours Degree in Commerce from Laurentian University (1992) with a specialty in Investment and Finance. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner. He also has been awarded the Registered Financial Planners (RFP) designation, which is the hallmark of Canadian Financial Planning designations. In 2009, David was also conferred with the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation, which is Canada’s premier wealth transfer and estate planning designation.
David has been involved in the Financial Services industry since 1991. He has held various executive positions as President of The Ontario Association of Financial Planners (OAFP), President of the Northern Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Association of Financial Planners CAFP, Board Member of the CAFP and Chapter Advisor Council Member of ADVOCIS.
He has lectured on Financial Planning at Cambrian College and Laurentian University in Sudbury.
David’s area of expertise includes retirement, tax, investment, insurance and estate planning, as well as being highly skilled in assisting people with disabilities. He is responsible for the creation, implementation and monitoring of overall modular and comprehensive financial plans written for Sound Financial Strategies’ clients. Many clients have benefited from his expertise, from recouping lost tax dollars; to ensuring long-term estate plans are implemented. In 1999, voted “Member of Distinction” by the Canadian Association of Financial Planners (CAFP), in recognition of David’s commitment and contribution to the personal financial planning profession. David received his Registered Financial Planner (RFP) status in 1998, a designation representing the highest professional accreditation available in Canada. David Yurich is also recognized for developing a presentation format called “Operation Debt load”, which is being used across Canada, as a tool in educating college and university students in money management.
In 2015, David was further awarded the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation. David, now joins a worldwide professional association (19500 members across 80 countries) for practitioners dealing with family inheritances and succession planning. Advising families across generations, is a key focal point of this new designation.
In 2019, David earned the “Certified Executor Advisor” CEA designation.Executors may turn to up to seventeen professions in the course of their duties, but no one profession understood everything the others do to help and guide executors, until now. Certified Executor Advisors are experts in their own field but also have broad practical knowledge of everything the executor needs to know. They’re uniquely equipped to steer executors away from potential problems and toward the professionals they need. For testators wanting to ensure their estates are well prepared, so as not to be a burden on their executors, CEAs can offer tremendous value.
David is a proud father of 2 young girls, happily married to the love of his life, Susan since 1994. He is an accomplished chef and is most happy entertaining his family and friends with culinary delights at their special place on Manitoulin Island.
